Disappointment at the Marco Island
Kingfling
A hopeful start to the season ended with a disappointing 13.48# king mackerel, the game plan was to head north opposed to the majority of the other teams to head south. Our plan didn't work out too well. The fish ate 28 miles offshore in 70ft on a blue runner down. After a short fight, the fish was bagged. We just have to forget the past and move foward. On a brighter not, local teams were on top of the board such as Team Lewmar/Pro Fish captained by Capt. Randy Rochelle with a 38# fish. And Team Comfortably Numb with 37# captained by Eric Smith. Next Up, Naples Kingfish Classic!

Team Catch 22 finishes 3rd in the King Mackerel division with a 25.80# kingfish, they also weighed a 2.2# Spanish Mackerel for the Spanish Mackerel division
. We caught our money fish at about 8 o' clock in the morning freelining a small spanish mackerel into busting schools of kings and spanish mackerel. It took a
impressive 200 yd intitial run. After a 10 minute fight, Donnie Sr. went to gaff the king when suddenly all the hooks ripped off the fish, Donnie instantly gaffed the fish,
which barely held the fish and we landed it. The rest of the day was slow, so we weighed our 25#. "We are happy about how this rookie year went, we are very excited about
